Eryri Walking Club

Pentre Berw to Malltraeth

July 27

We have arranged a walk from Pentre Berw to Malltraeth.

Our walk is just over 5 miles long mostly along a section of the Lon Las Cefni Cycleway.  We will be walking by the banks of the river Cefni, passing through Malltraeth Marsh which is a site of Special Scientific Interest.  The marshland was ‘reclaimed’ from the sea in the 1800s after the building of a dyke in Malltaeth and the canalisation of the river Cefni in 1824.

We will be walking on tarmac trails which are almost flat.

The Holland Arms Garden Centre have kindly allowed us to park in their overspill car park in Pentre Berw.

The NWSB are providing us with a coach which will leave the NWSB Bangor High Street offices at 10:30, pick up from the ‘park and ride’ car park at the Anglesey end of the Britannia Bridge at 10:50 and arrive at the Holland Arms Garden Centre overspill car park at 11:00.

We should start walking from Pentre Berw at 11:15, have our packed lunches on route and arrive at the Joiners Arms in Malltaeth with enough time for a drink and toilet break before the coach picks us up at 15:15 hours for the return journey.  We should be back in Bangor around 16:00 hours.

Strong walking shoes or boots and waterproof clothing is also advised and don’t forget a packed lunch.

Please can you let Bethan know as soon as possible if you intend joining us so we can make sure we have a sufficient number of volunteers and a suitable size coach.

Kind regards,

Peter Evison and Mark Roberts
