21.05.25 A wonderful walk near Llyn Trawsfynydd

28 walkers came with us on our most recent walk to the Trawsfynydd area – and five guide dogs.

The walk leaders of the trip were Eryri National Park Authority wardens David Prysor Jones and Robat Davies.

After meeting near the visitor dentre, David led us on a leisurely circular walk of around 4.5 miles to the Main Dam of Llyn Trawsfynydd.

28.4.25 A nice opportunity to relax and chat with friends while being creative.

What a lovely morning was spent at the North Wales Society of the Blind Colwyn Bay Social Club, where members got together for an art-filled session with Lydia Mary Fernandez-Arias and her daughter Eva.

We created ‘Patchwork Pots’ with fabrics of different textures and patterns, buttons, lace and braid.

23.04.25 A lovely walk to Llanddwyn and Newborough forest

22 walkers came on our latest beautiful walk to Llanddwyn beach.

After welcoming some new faces to the group, we started the journey from a car park just outside the village of Newborough towards Malltraeth.

Newborough Warren is one of the largest and most beautiful dune systems in Britain, and in 1955 Newborough Warren and Ynys Llanddwyn were the first coastal areas in Wales to be designated as a National Nature Reserve.

15.04.25 Support our Walking Club with Tesco blue tokens

At present, the North Wales Society of the Blind pays around £300-£360 per month or £4,000 a year for transport to take the walkers to and from their destination.

The financial assistance and community visibility provided by this scheme would be invaluable in helping us to continue our work, particularly in areas of social inclusion, welfare, and accessibility.

16.10.24 Blas ar gynnwys Y Rhwyd

Y Rhwyd is the name of the community newspaper covering w north-west Ynys Môn, including Caergybi, Bodedern, Cemaes and Llanfechell.

It is read and recorded every month by volunteers.

Their readings are recorded by Cymdeithas Deillion Gogledd Cymru - North Wales Society of The Blind in our studio in Bangor.

The CD recordings from the paper are then sent by post to anyone who would prefer to have an audio version.

This month's readers are Gwyneth Jones and Margaret Davies, from Merched Y Wawr, Cemaes.

They are also keen to get more people to volunteer to read and record the paper.
