Eryri Walking Club - Nantgwynant To Beddgelert

21 June 2023

We have arranged what should be a beautiful walk from Nantgwynant to Beddgelert in the heart of Snowdonia.

Our walk is 4 miles long but if the weather is fine and we are all feeling good we can walk an extra half mile or so to take in the legend of Gelert, Llywelyn The Great’s faithful wolfhound.
The route will follow part of the Cambrian Way which provides a good hard-core surface path through a lovely woodland area and round the shores of Llyn Dinas where we can stop for our butties before walking in to the charming village of Beddgelert.
Whilst the path is generally very good there are a couple of short stony sections and it could be a little bit slippery following any rain so strong walking shoes or boots are essential and waterproof clothing is also advised.
The NWSB are providing us with a coach which will leave the NWSB Bangor High Street offices at 10:15 and pick up at Caernarfon Bus Station, Pool Side 10:40.
We should arrive at Pont Bethania Car Park, Nantgwynant (SH 628507) at around 11:20 where there are public toilets and we should be able to start our walk at 11:30.
We should have time for a drink or an ice cream in Beddgelert before our coach picks us up at the public car park in Beddgelert at 15:00 hours for our return journey.  We expect to get back in Caernarfon for around 15:30 and in Bangor at around 16:00 hours.

Don’t forget your packed lunch and drinks.

We will postpone the trip in the event of bad weather - If we need to make a decision to cancel, we will let you know by email and text by 8.am on the day of the walk. Responding to this email could you include a mobile number where we can send text messages please.

Please can you let Bethan know as soon as possible if you intend joining us – bethan@nwsb.org.uk

  1. Will you be joining us on the walk?

  2. Is there anyone coming with you?

  3. Do you need a sighted guide volunteer?

  4. Mobile phone number.

  5. Where will you be meeting the group?
