Notice of our next walk – Bethesda, August 19, 2026
Hi all
With the holiday period in peak season, it makes it difficult to arrange a walk where there is little tourism. Therefore, I've decided that I will guide the group around some of the quieter lanes and paths of Bethesda, routes that Forest and myself walk daily.
We will start the walk at Plas Ffrancon Leisure Centre (LL57 3DT) at 11:00am where we can make use of the toilets if needed.
We will make our way up to the lower slopes of the Carneddau mountain range before descending back to the village where we will have our lunch break.
After lunch we will cross Afon Ogwen, continuining on to the slate trail Lôn Las Ogwen making our way to Zipworld where refreshments can be bought (please note, this is card payments only). The coach will pick us up for our return journey here.
A reasonable level of fitness is required as there will be a couple of hills en-route but nothing that is too steep. We can take our time ascending these.
The walk is around 4 miles in length.
The N.W.S.B. have arranged coach transport to leave the Society at 10:30am with the return journey from Zipworld at 15:00pn arriving back in Bangor at around 15:20pm.
The coach can also pick up at Bethesda Football Club (10:45am) - for those wishing to drive to Bethesda. Plas Ffrancon is only a short drive from here.
Please could you let Bethan Sage Williams (N.W.S.B.) know by no later than Friday August 14, if you intend joining us so we can arrange the necessary transport.
Very much looking forward to your company again this month.
Mark
