32 walkers on our walk to Cwm Penamnen!
32 walkers came on our circular walk to Cwm Penamnen, Dolwyddelan, today (June 17, 2026) - the largest number ever!
There were also six guide dogs.
The walk was almost 5 miles long, starting and ending at the Dolwyddelan Railway Station car park.
The sun was shining and the breeze was lovely as we crossed the bridge over Afon Lledr and along the Sarn Helen Roman Road which now has a good tarmac surface.
The leader of the walk was one of the Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Eryri National Park officers - Ioan Davies.
He explained that Sarn Helen carries on up to Tomen y Mur, Trawsfynydd.
After we passed Carreg Alldrefn and several waterfalls, we arrived at Tai Penamnen which started as a one-room cottage in the 15th century before becoming a community with more than 30 people living there.
We chose a nice picnic site near Cwm Penamnen to have our lunch.
Heading back, we came across quite a wet and muddy section but that didn't stop us before we arrived back at the start of the journey.
Everyone enjoyed it once again and are all looking forward to the next walk next month.
