A monthly meeting full of conversations, experiences and celebration!

RNIB Wales Policy and Campaigns Officer Hannah Rowlatt was invited to our monthly meeting at Station Road, Colwyn Bay.

Hannah spoke about how rehabilitation is an essential service that equips blind and partially-sighted people with the skills and support they need to live independently.

This can include white-cane training, learning about technology, developing cooking skills or having adaptations made in the home.

She wanted to hear about members experiences of Vision Rehabilitation and the support they have received.

RNIB Communications officer Betti Hunter spoke about her role which involves media outreach, digital content creation, and support for sight loss campaigns

During the group discussions, members talked about a range of issues from waiting times to accessing information.

After the group discussion they spoke to some members in private about their experiences with rehabilitation 

Those who’d had rehabilitation support cane training or a home visit were happy with the help they’d received, and those who hadn’t felt more informed about the service and who to contact if required.

We also celebrated a special lady’s birthday. Olwen Spicers will be 103 this week!
