Eryri Walking Club
Dolwyddelan - Cwm Penamer
Wednesday 19 April 2023

Hi All,
We have arranged a circular walk in Dolwyddelan a beautiful village on the A470 between Llanwrst and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Our walk is just over 4.5 miles long and we will start and finish our walk in Dolwyddelan Railway Station car park (SH 7373 5217).
We will start walking along a Roman Road which now has a good tarmac surface.  There is a pleasant picnic site by the Afon Cwm Penamer where we can stop for lunch.  Most of the remaining route will be on good forestry roads but there is a short section which could be a little muddy so strong walking shoes or boots are essential and waterproof clothing is also advised.
The route does climb about 450 feet but we can take our time and stop to enjoy hearing the history of this beautiful area and the forestry work being done from our guide, National Park Warden Ioan Davies.

The NWSB are providing us with a coach which will leave the NWSB Bangor High Street offices at 10:15
Car park by the football field in Bethesda at 10:30.
Arrive at Dolwyddelan Station Car Park at around 11:15
Start our walk at 11:30.

We should be back in the car park for the bus to pick us up at 15:00 for our return journey, getting us back in Bangor around 16:00 hours.

For anyone wanting to travel by car, there is a free car park at Dolwyddelan Station although the local community do ask for voluntary contributions to help with the car park maintenance.

For anyone coming from Llandudno there is a train scheduled to leave Llandudno at 10:20 arriving at Dolwyddelan at 11:12 with a return journey leaving Dolwyddelan at 15:11 arriving in Llandudno at 16:24.

Don’t forget a packed lunch.

We will postpone the trip in the event of bad weather - If we need to make a decision to cancel, we will let you know by email and text by 8.am on the day of the walk. Responding to this email could you include a mobile number where we can send text messages please.
Please can you let Bethan know as soon as possible if you intend joining us. bethan@nwsb.org.uk
