ERYRI WALKING CLUB
Tregarth to Ty’n y Maes
Wednesday 21st February 2024
Hi All,
This month we have organised a walk from Tregarth through Bethesda up to the Tyn Y Maes Motel in Nant Ffrancon. The walk is just over 5 miles along a variety of trails with some riverside and woodland paths. There is a climb of just over 400 feet including a couple of short steeper sections.
Our walk will start by the old station in Tregarth and take us along the old railway cycle track through “Twnnel Tywyll”. We will then follow the River Ogwen path before joining the Snowdonia Slate trail to Zip World where we can eat our sandwiches at their picnic site. There are toilets at the Zip World and an excellent cafe. Please find attached a link to the café menu but* note that only card payments are accepted*.
We will finish our walk at the Ty’n Y Maes Motel on the A5.
The paved surface trails are quite good but there will be some muddy sections which could be a little bit slippery, given the recent rainfall, so strong walking shoes or boots and waterproof clothes are essential .The NWSB has booked a coach which will leave the NWSB Bangor High Street offices at 10:30 drop us off in Tregarth at 10:45 ready to start our walk at 11:00 hours. The coach will pick us up at the Tyn Y Maes Motel on the A5 at 15:00 to get us back to Bangor for about 15:30 hours.
Don’t forget your packed lunch and drinks.
We will postpone the trip in the event of bad weather - If we need to make a decision to cancel, we will let you know as early as possible on the day of the walk.
Responding to this email - please could you include a mobile number where we can send text messages.
It is important that if you intend joining us then you let Bethan know as soon as possible so we can organise the appropriate coach.
1. Will you be joining us on the walk?
2. Is there anyone coming with you?
3. Do you need a sighted guide volunteer?
4. Mobile phone number.
5. Where will you be meeting the group?
We are now planning a programme for 2024 so if you have any ideas about new routes or perhaps a personal favourite walk then please let us know.
