Haf Thomas tells Shân Cothi how she raised £5,000 for North Wales Society of the Blind

Haf Thomas has raised over £5,000 for the North Wales Society of the Blind by collecting stamps.

The money has been used to provide computers and specialist software to enable children who have lost their sight to learn and become more independent.

Haf continues to raise money for Society based in Bangor, Gwynedd by collecting stamps of all kinds which are then sorted and sold as profit for Society.

Over the years Haf, from Llanrug, Gwynedd has raised over £60,000 for charities such as Tŷ Gobaith, Ward Alaw, Ysbyty Gwynedd and Welsh Air Ambulance.

Haf, 54, was born in 1971 with Down's syndrome.

But that didn't hold her back at all - and she has enjoyed a full life including working for Cyngor Gwynedd for 29 years before retiring.

Haf's memoir - 'O Na Fyddai’n Haf O Hyd!' – was published a year ago.

Now her story is also available as an audio book so that blind and visually impaired people can enjoy it. Haf's sister, Ffion Orwig, voices the audio book version.

Recently Haf and Ffion were recently on Shân Cothi’s programme, Bore Cothi, on BBC Radio Cymru.
