Information about our next two walks on July 16 and August 13
We're looking forward to the first leg of our next two walks, taking place on Wednesday, July 16, as we journey from Capel Curig to Ogwen Cottage.
The second leg will follow on Wednesday, August 13, continuing from Ogwen Cottage to Bethesda.
Please note: The second walk is scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month - not our usual third.
In July, we'll return to the county of Conwy, retracing a route we first walked shortly after emerging from Covid lockdown. This walk has been suggested again, as it was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who joined us on that memorable day.
This walk covers part of Section 13 of the Llwybr Llechi Eryri (Snowdonia Slate Trail), stretching just over 5 miles from Capel Curig to Ogwen Cottage.
The route runs alongside Afon Llugwy and the A5, guiding us through Nant y Benglog, a stunning narrow valley between Capel Curig and Llyn Ogwen.
We'll stop for lunch at Gwern Gof Isaf, a welcoming farm with picnic tables and campsite toilets, which the farmer has kindly allowed us to use. Please remember to bring your own packed lunch and refreshments.
The trail is mainly along a country track, with some rough sections, and the final kilometre on a tarmac path. Depending on recent weather, there may be some muddy areas—suitable footwear is highly recommended.
Toilets will be available at the start of the walk, Gwern Gof Isaf, and at Ogwen Cottage.
The North Wales Society of the Blind has arranged a coach to leave the Society’s office at 10:30am, collecting us from Ogwen Cottage at 3:30pm for our return to Bangor by approximately 4:00pm.
The coach will also pick up walkers in Bethesda, opposite the football ground, at 10:45am.
Free parking for Blue Badge holders is available at the football ground car park for those who wish to meet us there.
To help us arrange transport, please let Bethan Sage Williams at the Society’s office know by Friday, July 11 if you plan to join us.
