Pleasant walk from Y Felinheli to Caernarfon to start the New Year
27 walkers and six guide dogs came on our first walk of the year - from Felinheli to Caernarfon.
It was a great opportunity to enjoy company and flex the body in the fresh air along the four mile, three and a half hour journey.
We gathered next to the Garddfon Inn.
The scenery was magnificent with the sun shining and a rainbow above Y Felinheli.
We started the journey by walking up the hill out of the village and along the Lôn Las - the walking and cycling path that connects the village with Caernarfon.
We had our lunch at Plas Menai where picnic tables were available as well as food, drinks and toilets. Many thanks to them for their welcome.
We then headed back along the path passing the Ferodo factory site which used to employ hundreds of workers producing brake linings for cars.
The workers are famous for being on strike for almost three years in 2001-2003 after being locked out of the workplace by the owner.
In no time, we had passed the site of Plas Brereton and Plas Tŷ Coch, the two mansions now long gone on the outskirts of Caernarfon. At one time they had a private dock as part of the estate.
Then, we walked past Porth Waterloo with a row of houses on the water's edge before coming to a garden and a bench or two and stones on the site of Yr Hen Erddi.
Then, a look at the town's marina and the restaurants before the ending the walk at Morrisons, Caernarfon, the location of the town's former train station with everyone having enjoyed our walk and looking forward to the next one next month.
