Successful open day at Bangor Library!
A good number of people visited Bangor Library yesterday (Monday, October 6) for an open day aimed at people living with sight loss.
The event was organised by the North Wales Society of the Blind and Gwynedd Libraries to promote our audio book service, GWRANDO.
We have previously held open days at Caernarfon and Porthmadog libraries.
There are also plans to hold future open days at other libraries.
Each year, the Society produces 12 Welsh-language talking books for adults and 12 for children.
These recordings are available free of charge at the libraries on CD or MP3, or for download; alternatively, they can be purchased from the Society as part of its GWRANDO service.
One of the Society’s Visual Rehabilitation specialists was also present, demonstrating and explaining the range of aids and innovative equipment available to people living with sight loss.
Attendees also enjoyed a live musical performance by Phill Jones, the talented singer-songwriter from Caernarfon who lives with visual impairment and is well-known for sharing his story and inspiring others.
