Trees provide welcome shade on walk from Bethesda to Bangor

27 walkers and six guide dogs came on our latest walk along Lôn Las Ogwen from Bethesda to Bangor.

Despite the hot weather, there were plenty of trees and their foliage offering us shade throughout the journey - with a lovely breeze too.

We started the journey near the Bryn Bella crossing with the Coetmor Bridge across the busy Afon Ogwen below where there was a mill a long time ago and a nearby pub as well.

We walked along Lôn Las through Tregarth and on to the Blas Lon Las Cafe - Moelyci Farm, where we had food and drink, and a little rest.

We were amazed at the activity and bustle of the farm and their success in growing all kinds of vegetables and tomatoes in particular.

Picnic tables and a toilet were also available there.

The path was flat as we crossed and on tarmac heading for the Felin Hen bridge to cross the A4244 road and back on the path.

The route follows the remains of two former railways - between Bethesda and Bangor - and another between Penrhyn Quarry and Porth Penrhyn where slate used to be exported around the world.

Today there is a fish shop selling local fish in Porth Penrhyn.

From there, we walked through the Hirael area of Bangor and along the bottom of Bangor High Street.

The six-mile journey ended at the North Wales Society of the Blind centre where we had a cup of tea to celebrate.

Everyone enjoyed it and again looking forward to next month's walk.
