Walk along the Lon Las Menai

Wednesday 16th November 2022

We have arranged a walk along part of the Lon Las Menai cycle route from Caernarfon to Felinheli which is a route we have done back in 2019.
We have been looking at a new walk in Llanberis but with the current bad weather and the potential for difficult conditions at this time of year the cycle route provides an appropriate safe option and by using the regular public transport this will help us plan some more ambitious walks in the New Year.

The 5C bus leaves Bangor bus station stand B at 10:23 and is due to arrive at Caernarfon bus stand A at 10:44.
We will start our walk at the bus stand A at 11:00 and walk through town to Porth Y Aur, along the front and through the Marina to join the cycleway below Morrisons.

We have arranged to have our butties at the picnic tables at Plas Menai outdoor activities centre and they are happy for us to use their lounge if the weather is not too good.  We should be at Plas Menai about 12:30.
After lunch we will return to the cycleway and continue to Felinheli where we will finish our walk by the public toilets in front of the Garddfon Inn at around 14:00 hours.

There are buses from the Victoria Felinheli every 20 minutes on the hour for the 20 minute journey back to Bangor or 5 minutes to the hour for the slightly shorter trip to Caernarfon.
Our route is almost 5 miles long, on tarmac with only gentle gradients but strong walking shoes or boots are recommended.  Warm weather proof clothing is essential and don’t forget a packed lunch.

Please can you let Bethan know if you intend joining us and if you will be NWSB Resource Centre for 10:00, Bangor Bus Station at 10:15 or Caernarfon Bus Stand at 10:45.

Kind regards,
